Independent verification for your property
One visit, permanent proof.
The problem you already know
Your future guests do not believe you. Every hotel says it has a great pool, fast Wi-Fi and a beach nearby. Listings have trained travelers to discount everything a hotel says about itself, which means your real strengths earn you nothing.
Verification fixes what advertising cannot: it makes your claims checkable.
What an HRI Verified Inspection is
A certified independent inspector stays at your property and checks it against a standardized protocol: rooms, bathrooms, F&B, facilities, connectivity, location claims, safety. Everything is evidenced with geotagged, time-stamped video, cross-checked by an AI verification pipeline and human review.
The result is published on your HotelsRating page as verified fact.
What you get
The HRI Verified badge. On your page, valid 24 months. It tells every visitor, and every AI travel assistant reading our data, that your information is independently confirmed.
Verified facts in your score. The inspector confirms or corrects what your listing claims. Those checked facts feed the facility component of your HRI in place of self-reported data. If your listing is accurate, verification confirms it. If it overstates, the correction shows. The score follows the facts in either direction, and you pay for the check, never for a result.
A full inspection report. Every scored point with logged measurements: Wi-Fi speeds, hot-water time, walk-to-beach minutes, the same evidence your guests wish they had before booking.
A footage license. Professional walkthrough video of your property, filmed to our standard, licensed for your own marketing channels at no extra cost.
What you do not get, and why that protects you
You cannot buy a score, a medal, or a favorable result. The fee is identical whatever the inspection finds. Inspectors are assigned by us, paid by us, and rated on accuracy, not on your satisfaction. Results publish either way.
This is not a limitation. It is the entire value. A badge that hotels could influence would be worthless to travelers within a season, and you would have paid for nothing. Forbes built a century of trust on exactly this model: payment buys the assessment, never the outcome. So does the HRI.
If your property delivers what it promises, independent verification is the cheapest credibility you will ever buy. If it does not, you will know precisely what to fix, before your guests tell the internet.
How it works
- 1You order online and choose a 5-day availability windowDay 0
- 2We assign a certified inspector and confirm scopeDays 1 to 3
- 3The inspector stays as a regular guest: 1 night for a city property, 2 nights for a resortWithin your window
- 4Automated QA and human review of all evidenceAbout 5 days
- 5You receive the full report and a correction window opensAround Day 7
- 6Publication follows after the correction window closesAfter corrections
You may submit factual corrections with evidence during the correction window, before anything is published. Provide a standard base-category room and treat the inspector like any other guest. That is the whole of your involvement.

Common questions
- Can the inspection lower our score?
- Yes, if your listing claims things the inspector cannot find. If your information is accurate, verification can only strengthen your position. We recommend reviewing your listing for accuracy before ordering, and we count that as the first benefit of the process.
- Can we choose or meet the inspector?
- No. Anonymity of assignment is what makes the badge worth carrying.
- Who sees the report?
- You and our verification team. The published page shows the badge, verified facts and selected footage, not the internal worksheet.
- Why HotelsRating?
- Because our rating is built on a published formula and a public integrity policy: hotels cannot pay for scores, ever. That policy is what makes our verification mean something to your guests.
