A hotel score nobody can pay to change
Every hotel on HotelsRating gets one number, the HotelsRating Index, from a public formula that runs every night. Hotels cannot buy it, raise it, or remove it. What you see is what the data says.
What the score means
The HotelsRating Index (HRI) runs from 0 to 100. It combines cross-source review consensus, expert awards and verified facility data into one number, recomputed nightly. The strongest properties carry a Gold, Silver or Bronze medal.
On every hotel page you can open “Why this score?” and see exactly what each part contributes. Nothing is hidden behind a black box: the formula is published in full.
Tune it to your trip
The best hotel in a city is not the best hotel for your trip. Tell us what matters this time, whether it is a couple's escape, a family stay or a base for working remotely, and the ranking adjusts for fit.
One honest rule sits behind this: fit can lower a score for you, it can never raise one. We will not inflate a hotel because it matches your filters. We only show you when a high score does not fit what you actually need.

What we do, and what we don't
We rate, and that is all the score reflects. We do not sell placement, and no hotel can pay to rank higher or to disappear.
We do not host traveler reviews. The HRI is built from independent signals, not from a comment box we control, so there is nothing on the page for a hotel or a rival to flood.
When you click through to book, that link is a partner link, and we tell you so. Our independence is written into a public charter that limits how much of the company any single hotel interest can own.
