About this hotel
The history of Weekapaug Inn is what gives this scenic spot situated on Quonochontaug Pond its charm. The story of this Rhode Island luxury hotel dates back to 1899, when Frederick and Phebe Buffum opened the small inn for the beach community. After the original building was damaged in the hurricane of 1938, the Buffums rebuilt their inn higher up on the Quonochontaug Pond, where they could help protect the surrounding area and the beach, resulting in a private enclave that still today retains its beauty and coastal charm. A sister property to the Ocean House, located just a few short miles down the road, Weekapaug Inn is slightly more rustic, but retains the same Old World allure with its laidback ambiance. Ornate artwork and antiques adorn the hallways, bocce and shuffleboard courts line the lawn, and a sky full of stars bids all guests a good evening.
