About this hotel
Eagles Nest is a villa resort situated in Russell, the historic Bay of Islands settlement in northern New Zealand. The property offers private villa accommodation in a remote coastal setting, with views across the water toward some of New Zealand's most photographed maritime landscapes. The resort draws guests seeking complete privacy and bespoke hospitality away from populated centres. In 2025, Eagles Nest received the World Travel Awards accolade for Oceania's Leading Villa Resort, reflecting strong recognition within the luxury travel industry. The award speaks to the property's focus on tailored experiences and intimate accommodation. Russell itself carries colonial character and serves as a quiet alternative to the busier Paihia on the Bay of Islands, appealing to couples and guests who value seclusion and natural beauty without the infrastructure of a larger town.
