About this hotel
Standing high above the River Wye, the Royal Hotel has fine river and countryside views. It offers traditional cuisine, free on-site parking and bedrooms with free Wi-Fi. The Royal Hotel is next to historic St Mary’s Church and a 5-minute walk from Ross on Wyes shops. The M50 motorway is 5 minutes drive away, and The Forest of Dean is 20 minutes by car. Each bedroom has a small seating area, satellite TV, and tea and coffee facilities. Some rooms have scenic views, and some are located in the stable block. The historical hotel is built on the foundations of a 13th-century Bishop’s Palace. It has been visited by Queen Victoria and famous author, Charles Dickens. Full English breakfasts are available, and classic meals are served until 22:00. In summer, you can dine on the terrace with its excellent views of the Wye Valley. The Royal is a non-smoking Grade II listed building and as such has no lift. The public areas are access friendly. Barretts restaurant is open 7 days a week and can also be booked for private functions. There are 2 lower-floor rooms, 6 steps from the garden level and these are not suitable for wheelchair access, or people with severe walking difficulties. Please state at the time of booking if you require a lower-floor room. Please note that full payment is taken at the time of booking.
