About this hotel
Perched on the serene shores of Lake Fuschl near Salzburg, Rosewood Schloss Fuschl’s setting feels like a character in its own right: a 15th-century-castle-turned-luxury-retreat that still echoes with centuries of Austrian history (it’s no wonder it was the setting for the 1950s film trilogy about 19th-century Empress Elisabeth of Austria, aka Sissi). Built originally as a royal hunting lodge in 1461, the property reopened under Rosewood in 2024 following an exacting two-year restoration that honors its heritage while updating it for today’s discerning traveler. Inside, 98 guest rooms blend contemporary comfort with historic details like hand-painted minibars inspired by the four seasons and original architectural elements unearthed in the castle’s tower. The Asaya Spa — with indoor/outdoor infinity pools and mountain views — and direct access to the lake at the Schloss Fuschl See Club make the surrounding landscape part of the experience. Culinary offerings span six venues, where local alpine classics meet creative riffs, supported by one of the region’s most storied wine cellars.
